Anyone who has played the new PES Demo last week will know that PES 2010 is still suffering from the same gameplay problems that PES 2009 and 2008 suffered from over the last few years.

The slow response times, the annoying “run animation” of the players and the general blocky control when on the ball, and no control when off it.

Over the last few years Konami has repeatedly issued promises with the sole intention of misleading the community about the new game. This went as far as the President of Konami issuing a statement before PES 2008 was released, that he and others firmly believed PES 2008 would be received by the community as the best Football game ever created.

I like many others bought this game with great excitement only to receive a completely unbalanced, unfinished mess of a game. Surely the production staff and the President himself would have played the game before issuing a false and misleading statement like that?

Konami pulled out all the same tricks when PES2009 was being released, telling us everything had been redone and online play had been designed with the sole intention of there being no lag either half for either player, infact they promised it had done this!
What we got was another mess, with both players having terrible lag during the entire game!

Konami even closed the old PES6 server in order to force the 2,000 or so active PES6 players to buy PES 2009, it hardly cost a penny to keep the server open and not kill an online community which is an asset to any company. This is based on the fact one man (Elpinfi) can comfortably pay for a server to run indefinitely for 15,000+ players.

But why is it good for the community that PES 2010 is another letdown?

Even if Konami had got PES2010 coded and designed correctly with a proper online system, there would still have been no moderators, no complaints board, and no real community within that online system.

Konami themselves said they had gone back to using the proven PES6 online system. That’s all very good and well, but we already have that system here at PES6J and PES6 itself can never be bettered gameplay wise.

If the new PES demo had been good, we would have had more cause for concern than we do now.
There would have been a chance everyone would have bought the new game, and played that online instead even if it was only an ok game.
Our community would have become fragmented, with half playing the new game or half playing the old game and no one enjoying themselves as much.

Now that we know it won’t be any good, we can rest assured that we can continue to play a fantastic game, with a perfectly moderated online set up, and with a fantastic community of active friends for another year.
